For an RTV 3106 assignment I live tweeted Tim Urban's TedTalk "Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator." It was a very interesting TedTalk that described how procrastination can be normal, and how it can be harmful to achieving goals.
I will be live tweeting Tim Urban's TedTalk "Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator" as part of an assignment for my RTV 3106 class. I was drawn to this TedTalk, as I myself am a huge procrastinator.— Hunter McDaniel (@McDanielllllll) July 10, 2018
I relate so hard to Tim Urban's TedTalk right now. For whatever reason, having the motivation to just start writing a paper is more difficult than it would seem.— Hunter McDaniel (@McDanielllllll) July 10, 2018
Procrastinators are just wired differently than non-procrastinators. Tim Urban is doing a great job of explaining how our brains work differently.— Hunter McDaniel (@McDanielllllll) July 10, 2018
The "instant gratification monkey" is something that Tim Urban says lives in the brain of all procrastinators that causes them to go off track instead of getting done work at a reasonably early time before the deadline.— Hunter McDaniel (@McDanielllllll) July 10, 2018
The problem is that this monkey only cares about easy and fun. However, the best things in life take time and hard work to achieve and easy, fun is not as rewarding in the long run.— Hunter McDaniel (@McDanielllllll) July 10, 2018
Tim Urban says sometimes things that are easy and fun overlap with things that make sense, but more often than not they do not.— Hunter McDaniel (@McDanielllllll) July 10, 2018
The "panic monster" that Time Urban mentions steps in to terrify the "instant gratification monkey" just before deadlines prevents procrastinators from doing their best work because they always feel stress and panic.— Hunter McDaniel (@McDanielllllll) July 10, 2018
Procrastination without deadlines is almost more harmful than procrastination with deadlines because it prevents us from doing the things we really want and sometimes really need to do.— Hunter McDaniel (@McDanielllllll) July 10, 2018
Tim Urban says non procrastinators do not exist. Everyone is putting of something they have been intending to get around to. Just make sure it isn't anything that is going to lead to long term regret.— Hunter McDaniel (@McDanielllllll) July 10, 2018
I think its cute how Tim Urban ended his TedTalk about procrastination by saying that we need to get started on our goals, maybe not today, but "someday soon."— Hunter McDaniel (@McDanielllllll) July 10, 2018
